About a year ago, I got a coral that had a hitch-hiker coral on the plug. It was so tiny I didn't even see it for at least a month. It was about the size of a pin head. Now it is growing quite fast. It looks like a brown pocillpora with a yellowish skeleton. Kind of ugly, but kind of cool that it started out as a tiny polyp. Now the bad news, I noticed that I have at least 7 or 8 of these tiny things popping up in my tank. I have heard that pocillopra can spread like this, but I don't want anymore of these brown things in my tank. At least I think they are the same as the original. Sure do look like it. If they are like my green pocillipora, it wouldn't be so bad, but brown doesn't look to good. Here is a pic of the bigger one. Maybe some one can confirm the ID. I am not so good at IDing corals

LOL, Nice shot! I have to agree with you, he's pretty cute. Hey, since you shot the door off your feeder can I have your weight?
Are you going to stand by with the gun so we can get in and out of your house safely?Speaking of bears now I have to tell you my bear story from last month. I went over to my nephews with my metal detector to play with his son (10 or so years old, he was the only one I could find that would play with me that day ) We were detecting our way back to a sand pit down a trail behind their house when we heard a noise I had never heard before (there are a lot of noises I never heard before, love these new hearing aids). He looked at me, I looked at him and I said "What was that!?". He said BEAR CUB! and took off like a shot for the house. Well I can't run due to the fact that my feet don't bend in such a way that is required for running, but my feet said HA, OTTA HERE! If you can imagine what it would be like to be in a paint mixer, that's what it felt like. All I could think of was wait till I catch that kid, how could he leave the old woman behind for bait?! OH WAIT! Your not supposed to run from a black bear, stand and fight. NO f***ing way I can't win, I'm running for all I'm worth, either way I'm gonna die if the mother wants to take me out (yes there was a lot going through my mind on this trip). Finally my mind said maybe you should look to see if she's coming....well we(me and my mind) argued that for awhile (do I want to know or should I just be surprise?). I was running out of breath, my heart pretending it was having the big one and I just couldn't keep up the pace (if there was a pace) anymore. Then I realized I still had the all the tools in my hand, A WEAPON! I looked behind me and to my relief there was nothing there. (whew, I don't give my new metal detector to the bear so she'll let me go). I to told my feet to stop...STOP...FOR GODS SAKE STOP BEFORE YOU HAVE THE BIG ONE!!! I was almost back to the safety of the yard and my bear hunting, big strong nephew would be able to save me. I walked, huffing and puffing, into the yard as my nephew laughed at me. The kid had already filled him in and was in the house having a snack. The nephew walked back to check it out and I went into the safety of the house where my nephews wife was razzing her kid about running like a little girl. When my nephew returned he informed me that we were only about 100 feet from the house. But yes there was a bear back there. |

The door has been missing for years. But the feeder is mounted on 1/4" plate steel and the pole is 1" solid rod. It is my one and only "bear proof feeder." He still has the "cute" thing going for him, so I haven't scared him yet.
If you look close at the feeder, you will see a hole caused from a warning shot at a big one afew years ago. |

LOL, You're supposed to make lots of noise, throw things and whatever it takes to scare them away. BTW Watch them around that kind of feeder, I had one like that and they stole the bar/weight that works the door. Looked everywhere and never did find it. Probably in the pile with the rest of the neighbors stuff. Silly ol bear, grrrrr.
